LeShae Henderson is a PhD candidate in the Department of Sociology at Columbia University. She is interested in topics related to race and racial boundary making, indigeneity, punishment, and inequality. Her research examines how state institutions, like prisons, draw boundaries around racial groups, and how people experience life within these boundaries.
